Curbside Pick-Up

IFC uses Sign-Up Geniusarrow-up-right to generate a list of pickup times which consumers are able to select themselves after the cart closes. Whatever tool your food-hub uses to generate this information, it is important to keep track of this schedule on distribution day; it may be useful to dedicate staff to this task if consumer traffic is heavy.

Consider the size of an order and current consumer traffic to gauge how long it will take you to pick an order. Also consider temperature conditions in the food-hub, you don’t want frozen items to thaw if you’re packing orders in the summer. About ten minutes seems like a good estimate in most cases. Pull the order(s) for a particular curbside window and pick the items. For example, pull orders for 11:30am pick up at 11:20. Scan just as if they were being picked up by the consumer and hit SAVE. Write the total on the balance sheet.

Pack the order according to best practice and store wherever curbside orders are staged, with the invoice attached.

When the customer arrives, take the order and the invoice out to the customer’s vehicle. Collect payment and file the invoice.
